Manhood, Womanhood, & Humankind: Installation, 2018
An Islamic pattern dissected into two different patterns are reflected into each other to become one again to represent manhood, womanhood, and humankind.
The purpose of this piece is to show that when men and women are treated equally, humankind thrives, but when there is an imbalance in equality, both men and women are affected.

Pink Pattern: The destroyed pink design represents womanhood, as woman are often not treated equally to their male counterparts

Blue Pattern: The blue design represents manhood

Mirror Pattern (combination): Together, they are representative of humanity and how damaging women also damages men
The patterns were screen printed on door mirrors.
It is inspired by the Quranic verse about humankind originating from a single soul or source, which emphasizes that humankind is equal and women are not merely extensions of men.
